Ubisoft has shared new details about the future of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, outlining several important changes planned for Year 11 Season 4 (Y11S4). The latest Community Checkpoint covers operator balancing, competitive matchmaking, map rotations, limited-time game modes, and improvements to the Testing Grounds system.

With Year 11 approaching its final season, the development team is focusing on improving gameplay variety while giving players more opportunities to influence future updates.

TCSG12 Nerf Confirmed for Y11S4
One of the most notable announcements concerns the TCSG12, a powerful weapon available to defenders Kaid, Goyo, and Sentry. Ubisoft has acknowledged player feedback regarding the weapon and confirmed that a nerf is planned for Y11S4.

Although the developers have not released the complete balancing details, the upcoming adjustment is intended to address concerns about the weapon's effectiveness in competitive matches.

The team also plans to continue refining other operators and weapons. Denari, Jackal, and the Commando are scheduled to receive additional adjustments in the Y11S3.3 update.

Ubisoft also explained that future minor updates will focus on fewer but more noticeable gameplay changes, responding to feedback that previous smaller patches sometimes had little impact on actual matches.

Half Reinforcements Coming to Testing Grounds
Another interesting addition is the introduction of Half Reinforcements to the Testing Grounds in Y11S4.

This experimental feature will allow defenders to explore different reinforcement configurations, potentially creating new possibilities for site preparation and defensive strategies.

Rather than immediately introducing experimental mechanics into regular matches, Ubisoft will use the Testing Grounds to collect player feedback and evaluate how these changes affect gameplay.

Players will also be able to submit feedback through an in-game QR code and survey. The developers hope this approach will help refine new features before deciding whether they should become permanent parts of Siege.

Hostage and Secure Area Return to Quick Match
Ubisoft has also confirmed that two classic game modes, Hostage and Secure Area, will return to the regular Quick Match rotation starting with Y11S4.

Both modes have been part of Siege's history, but they have received less attention than Bomb in recent years. Bringing them back into the casual playlist will give players more variety while helping the development team understand how these objectives fit into the current gameplay environment.

Hostage mode is also being considered for a future competitive return. However, Ubisoft wants to test a redesigned version through the Testing Grounds first. Its potential return to Ranked will depend on player feedback and whether the mode can provide a balanced competitive experience.

3v3 Arcade Mode Will Return
Following its positive reception during Operation Split Fire, the 3v3 Arcade mode is also scheduled to return in Y11S4.

The mode offers a faster alternative to traditional Siege matches, with smaller teams, shorter rounds, and a more aggressive pace. Despite reducing the number of players, it retains the tactical elements that define Rainbow Six Siege.

Its popularity demonstrated that players are interested in alternative match formats, making its return a welcome addition to the upcoming season.

Ranked Map Pool Changes and Other Updates
Ubisoft has also announced a significant adjustment to the Ranked map rotation system. Starting next season, seasonal map pool rotations will be discontinued.

Instead, the development team plans to maintain a more consistent selection of approximately 15 maps, including the nine currently used in professional competition. The goal is to give players more time to develop map knowledge, improve strategies, and build competitive experience.

There are also changes to the Year 11 roadmap:
  • The previously planned Attacker Secondary Gadget has been cancelled.
  • Operator Mastery has been delayed and is now expected in Year 12 Season 1.
  • The Testing Grounds will play a larger role in evaluating future gameplay features.
  • What to Expect From Rainbow Six Siege Y11S4

The upcoming season represents an important step in Ubisoft's ongoing efforts to improve Rainbow Six Siege. From weapon balancing and ranked matchmaking adjustments to the return of classic game modes, Y11S4 introduces several changes that could influence how players approach both casual and competitive matches.

Ubisoft is expected to reveal more information about the new season during the Osaka Major on November 15, 2026. Players can look forward to additional details about upcoming content, gameplay adjustments, and the future direction of Siege.
